Taku Adventures organizes active and instructive trips in the Canadian wilderness. Our main goal is to offer participants a pleasant holiday, but we also strive to teach them the skills and knowledge they need for travelling safely and being well prepared in remote areas. Respect for and an insight into nature are key values. Our mission is the support to the conservation of the wilderness.
Bart de Haas is the founder of Taku Adventures. Over the years he has gathered a dedicated team of people who support Taku Adventures and its activities. Sharing knowledge is the main purpose of both the instructive courses in the Netherlands and the hiking trips in Canada.
Our guides are well trained to offer participants a successful and instructive holiday in a competent and enthusiastic way. They master navigation on land and on water, practical meteorology, rescue techniques in the mountains and in (swift) water and have ample knowledge of local flora and fauna. After their training the guides have to assist experienced guides for at least two years prior to guiding trips independently.
During the courses and the (hiking) trips the participants are handed information and are given the opportunity to practice what they have learned. People who are 'merely' interested in an unforgettable hike and adventurous experience are of course also most welcome to join us.
We make every effort to conduct our activities in an environmentally friendly manner. We hike through remote and untouched areas with a maximum of 10 participants. We are guests in this beautiful land of Bear, Moose and Wolf and strive to leave only our footprints.
The chance of meeting other people is nil, whereas the chance of seeing wildlife is very high. Each night we camp near a deep blue lake or next to a rushing stream. We cook on a campfire. For two to four weeks you can enjoy this vast natural area. We guarantee you will have a unique and memorable holiday.
